Seattle, WA -- March 15, 2010 – Interior and architectural design professionals from around the Puget Sound will gather at University Village (former Smith & Hawkins space- 4622 25th Avenue NE) to take part in LEVEL’s second annual Fashion + Forward gala/sale. New this year, the sale will be extended to the public on Saturday, May 8th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry fee is $10, payable in advance at www.levelhelp.org or at the door.
This event engages professionals (from local architecture, interior design, development, planning and construction firms, along with associated industries) to donate gently used men’s and women’s clothing/fashion accessories and home accessories, to exchange and sell for charity. Donations will be professionally merchandised within an exclusive space designed by industry members. Those who donate will be able to exchange for one new item and shop for additional purchases…all in the name of giving. The general public will then be welcome to shop and purchase at bargain prices. Net proceeds benefit Plymouth Housing Group. PHG provides permanent homes for nearly 1000 of the most challenged homeless people in our community- those suffering from long-term homelessness and multiple disabilities. www.plymouthhousing.org
“In this economy, we feel that the best thing we can do is to engage these highly creative professionals in fun, inexpensive and unusual ways, in order to give back to others in need. Our design community has not been spared from hard financial times, therefore the need to create an event for minimal cost is foremost in our minds, as well as to design the retail space with re-useable elements. Sustainability is a key focus of our design/build community.” -Level Steering Committee-
To date, LEVEL has contributed $15,000 to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for new Physical Therapy Department equipment and lounge furniture/acoustical fabric wall panels for the recently opened SCCA patient housing facility in South Lake Union. “Tangible results are our motto. We want all involved to be able to see and touch the outcome of their efforts.”
LEVEL is a local design industry organization that provides tangible goods to local causes. The organization chooses one cause every year and brings design professionals together to create memorable, charitable events to aid others.
